Hong Kong International Piano Grand Prix CompetitionHong Kong-born pianist Tin Pui Tang is known for his sensitive musical approach and creativity. Tang has given concerts in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Israel.
A frequent soloist collaborating with orchestras, his recent performances include several concerto works by Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, and Grieg with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Boston Mercury Orchestra, ABRSM Orchestra in Hong Kong, and the Academy Symphony Orchestra of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
As a frequent visitor to international music festivals as a soloist, Tin Pui was invited to participate in prestigious events such as the Aspen Music Festival, Banff, Kirishima, Walnut Hill, Philadelphia Young Pianist Academy, Hanoi, and Borromeo. During these festivals, he received guidance from renowned musicians including Sergei Babayan, Gary Graffman, Dang Thai Son, Eliso Virsaladze, Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń, Minsoo Sohn, Pi-Hsien Chen, Hung-Kuan Chen, Alexander Korsantia, Anton Nel, Fabio Bidini, Meng Chieh Liu, Gabriel Kwok, and conductor Leonard Slatkin. He also served as a Polonsky Foundation Fellow at the Aspen Music Festival and School in 2019.
Tin Pui obtained his Bachelor of Music at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts under a full scholarship provided by ABRSM in 2018 and was inducted to the Dean's List for his outstanding performance upon graduation. Following that, he furthered his studies in piano at the Royal Academy of Music under a full scholarship from The Muriel, Lady Kadoorie Music Scholarship. He graduated with a Master of Arts degree in piano performance with distinction in 2020. Later, he obtained an Artist Diploma at The Buchmann-Mehta School of Music with a full scholarship in 2022, under the tutelage of the legendary pedagogue Prof. Arie Vardi with great acclaim. His previous teachers include Prof. Rustem Hayroudinoff, Dr. Mary Mei Loc Wu, and pedagogue Mr. Isaac Lau.
In addition to his extensive performance experience, Tin Pui has made significant contributions to music education and adjudication. He has served as a jury member for the VI International Liszt Ferenc (Hungary-Budapest) Competition in both the Macau and Hong Kong divisions, and has been invited as an adjudicator for the Rising Stars International Arts Festival & Competition, Vietnam. He has also adjudicated local school piano competitions in Hong Kong, such as the King's College Piano Competition, and previously taught at the International Christian Quality Music Secondary and Primary School. Furthermore, he has frequently served as a piano accompanist for concerts and competitions at Harrow International School Hong Kong.
Dedicated to nurturing the next generation of musical talent, Tin Pui currently operates the Tin Pui Piano Academy as Music Director, providing professional piano training courses at international standards. Under his guidance, numerous students have won international awards and received full scholarships to study at prestigious music institutions such as the Royal College of Music. He is also the Artistic Director of the Hong Kong International Piano Grand Prix Competition.
In terms of professional development, Tin Pui was selected to participate in and successfully completed the 2025 Executive Leadership Development Programme (ELDP), co-organised by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) and the HKU Business School, demonstrating his exceptional potential in arts management and leadership.
